The book Hawija (Aspekt, 2022) edited by Jip van Dort, Lauren Gould and Marrit Woudwijk, aims to reflect on the consequences of remote warfare, as explored through a series of articles by professionals, politicians, and experts. For this project I was commissioned to design the cover, visual support to the content and co-write one chapter.

The choice of image - raw, impactful, and stark - quickly communicates the scale of destruction caused by remote warfare. Using imagery that evokes a sense of ruin and loss, the cover sets the tone for the book's exploration of the human and political consequences of modern conflict.
